It was my first time running the Brooks Brighton 10K and it was an amazing experience! Everything was organised very well from the start, with clear directions, accessible toilets and storage facilities right next to the start. The route along Brighton seafront was incredible! Running with views of the sea and feeling the support.
Important Changes for 2024
The Brooks Brighton 10K in 2024 introduces significant updates to enhance the event’s organization, safety, and overall experience for participants and spectators. While many aspects of the race remain familiar, these changes reflect ongoing improvements based on feedback and logistical considerations. Here’s a comparison to 2023 and a detailed look at what’s new
Comparison to 2023
In 2023, the race route included both road and pavement sections, requiring runners to navigate shifts between surfaces. This led to some challenges with pacing and safety, especially in crowded sections. Additionally, parking on Madeira Drive was partially allowed for participants, which limited space and created some congestion around the start/finish area. The start time was set at 10:00 a.m., which led to prolonged road closures, impacting local traffic.
Increased Safety Measures
The race has introduced stricter safety protocols this year:
No Pets or Pushchairs: In line with British Association of Road Races regulations, pets and pushchairs are prohibited to prevent any risks to participants.
Increased Marshal Presence: Additional marshals will be stationed at key points to guide runners and ensure smooth passage along the course.
Expanded Medical Support: Medical assistance from St. John Ambulance will be readily available, with stations located at the start/finish area and throughout the route.
- Updated Parking Arrangements: We have restructured the parking facilities to accommodate more vehicles.
- Increased Safety Measures: The race has introduced stricter safety protocols this year.
- All-Road Course: Our newly designed all-road course promises a thrilling experience.
- Earlier Start Time: To improve the overall experience, we have moved the start time of the race earlier in the day.
- Time Limit Introduction: This year, an important change is being introduced to ensure fair play, consistency, and efficiency across all levels of participation.
- Improved Viewing Areas: We’ve expanded and upgraded the viewing areas to provide better sightlines for spectators.
- Food and Beverage Options: A wider selection of food and beverage vendors will be available, catering to all tastes and preferences.
Summary of Changes from 2023

This year, the race will be held entirely on the road, eliminating the need for runners to switch between the road and pavement. This adjustment will help create a straighter, faster course.
